Work continues on the opening mechanism of the swing bridge leading into Trinn Mills and Bathurst Parade. Pedestrians can use the bridge but it cannot be opened to allow tall marine traffic through. The bridge has been repaired before but the mechanism continued to break down.
The engineers hope that this time their repairs will be effective and permanent. However the safety gate at the Trinn Mills end of the bridge has also been damaged, possibly by someone trying to swing the bridge manually. Repairs to this gate may further delay the ability to swing the bridge.
